Consider The Ravens. . .

Life is a series of snapshots.  Moments that exist and slip away as quickly as they emerge.  A young couple holding an infant and kissing, an old man sitting in a lawn chair, my daughter and granddaughter walking away hand in hand, the anguished look on a homeless man's face, these vibrant images quickly fade into sepia tones.  These are the moments of our lives, memories in the making.  Our days speed by at such a pace that we rarely take time for reflection.  The time and energy that it takes to create our lives doesn't leave much time to genuinely understand and respond to them.  In Luke12:24-26 Jesus gives us the remedy, "Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!  Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?  Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?"  Instead of rushing through our lives in order to gain more of the things that we don't really need, how different would our lives be if we trusted God for what He has promised us?  How differently might we respond to life if we would quiet our spirits and listen to God's Spirit?

Lord, I pray that You help us to see life from Your perspective.  Lord, if there is someone who needs a smile, a touch or a meal from us please show us who we may show Your love to.  Thank you Father for the love that You shed abroad in our hearts.  Thank You for Your Son and His sacrifice.  In Jesus name, I pray for Your love and peace in our lives. Amen
